Cabinet of Ministers Convenes to Address Security and Economic Development

Mogadishu (LM) The Cabinet of Ministers of the Federal Republic of Somalia held its regular meeting today, focusing on the ongoing efforts to eradicate Khawarij groups across various regions of the country.
During the session, a detailed report on military operations against terrorism was presented. The council praised the bravery and sacrifices of the National Army and local fighters engaged in these critical efforts, emphasizing the importance of continued visits to the frontlines to uplift and encourage those defending the nation.
Prime Minister Mr. Hamsa Abdi Barre, who chaired the meeting, provided an update on his recent visit to the battlefields in the Lower Shabelle region. He directed the council to maintain strong support for the National Army in their fight against terrorism.
In addition to security matters, the Ministry of Petroleum and Minerals reported on the progress of oil exploration activities, highlighting several challenges within the sector. The Ministry confirmed that the 3D Seismic Survey is expected to be completed by the end of this year, which will facilitate the next phase of drilling operations.
Furthermore, the council approved a proposal from the Ministry of Planning and Investment Promotion to renew the appointment of Mr. Abdirahman Omar Dahir as the Deputy Director of the National Statistics Agency for a fixed term.
Today’s meeting underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing national security and fostering economic development, as it addresses challenges in both military and resource sectors.
