Former Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheire Expresses Concern Over Terrorist Recapture of Masaajid Ali Gaduud

Mogadishu (LM) H.E Hassan Ali Khaire, the former Prime Minister of Somalia, has expressed his deep sorrow regarding the recent recapture of Masaajid Ali Gaduud by terrorist groups. This area had previously been liberated by the Somali Armed Forces and local heroes two years ago, who made significant sacrifices for the safety and freedom of their people.
In a poignant statement on his facebook page, Khaire emphasized that terrorism remains the most significant obstacle to Somalia’s development, labeling it an invasion against the Somali people. “Every time terrorists seize a part of our homeland, we all fail,” he remarked, highlighting the collective responsibility of the Somali community in the fight against extremism.
Khaire cautioned against interpreting the loss of territory as a failure of specific individuals or groups. “Such interpretations divide society and undermine national unity, ultimately serving to encourage brutal terrorism,” he warned. He stressed that the successes in the fight against terrorism have relied on the solidarity of the Somali people, civil society, and government, showcasing that unity is the key to overcoming these challenges.
The former Prime Minister called upon President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to take decisive leadership in uniting the nation. “It is crucial to set aside political divisions and create a national platform for deliberation on our collective salvation,” Khaire urged. He emphasized the need for cooperation in the fight against the Khawarij and the liberation of the country.
As the blessed month of Ramadan approaches its final days, Kheire encouraged all Somalis to pray for their nation and stand firmly with the Armed Forces in their ongoing efforts. “Now is the time for unity and resilience against the Khawarij,” he concluded, calling for a collective commitment to restoring peace and stability to Somalia.
