Deadline for Political Organization Registration Extended by 21 Days

Mogadishu (LM) In a significant announcement, National Electoral Commission Chairman Abdikarin Ahmed Hassan stated that the deadline for registering political organizations has been extended by 21 days. The new deadline, previously set for March 31, aims to provide additional time for political groups to complete their registration process.

Hassan emphasized the importance of inclusivity in the upcoming electoral process, noting that the extension will allow more organizations to participate and contribute to the democratic landscape of the country. “We believe that this additional time will enhance the representation of various political views and ensure a more robust electoral process,” he said.

The decision follows consultations with various stakeholders and reflects a commitment to fostering a fair and transparent electoral environment. As the country prepares for its upcoming elections, the National Electoral Commission continues to encourage all eligible political organizations to take advantage of this opportunity to register.

Political analysts view this extension as a crucial step toward ensuring broader participation in the electoral process, which is vital for the stability and democratic progression of Somalia. The commission is expected to provide further updates as the new deadline approaches.
