Trump Optimistic After Call with Egypt’s Sissi on Gaza and Yemen Issues

Washington, D.C (LM) President Donald Trump expressed optimism following a constructive conversation with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi, focusing on pressing issues in Gaza and Yemen. In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated, “My telephone call with President el-Sissi went very well.”

During their discussion, the two leaders addressed the “tremendous military progress” made by the U.S. in its operations against Yemen’s Houthi rebels, who have been targeting Red Sea shipping lanes in solidarity with the Palestinians amidst the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Trump noted that the conversation also included topics such as “possible solutions” for the situation in Gaza and military preparedness.

In February, Trump garnered significant attention when he proposed the mass displacement of Gaza’s population, suggesting that the U.S. could take control of the territory for real estate development. This controversial idea received backing from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu amid ongoing hostilities in the region. The conflict was reignited after a Hamas attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023, which resulted in the deaths of 1,200 individuals and the abduction of 251 hostages.

As the situation in Gaza remains critical, Trump’s dialogue with el-Sissi highlights ongoing efforts to explore diplomatic solutions and stabilize the region.
