Trump Hints at Possibility of Third Term Amid Speculation

Washington, D.C. (LM) President Donald Trump stirred controversy on Monday by suggesting that some individuals are encouraging him to consider a third term in office, despite the U.S. Constitution’s 22nd Amendment, which prohibits presidents from serving more than two terms. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump acknowledged that while he has not pursued this possibility, “they do say there’s a way you can do it.”
His remarks have reignited discussions about his political future and the potential for a rematch against former President Barack Obama, who also served two terms. Trump responded enthusiastically to the idea, stating, “Oh, I love that. That would be a good one.”
In addition to his comments on electoral ambitions, Trump outlined his plans for upcoming trade measures, specifically his focus on “reciprocal tariffs.” He claimed that these tariffs would lead to an economic resurgence, asserting, “I think it’s something that is going to bring a lot of wealth back to our country—tremendous wealth.” However, economists have raised concerns that such tariffs could lead to global trade conflicts and negatively impact relationships with key allies.
Trump also addressed Elon Musk’s involvement in his administration, noting Musk’s advisory role as a “special government employee.” While praising Musk’s contributions to efficiency measures, Trump acknowledged that the tech entrepreneur is expected to return to his business ventures soon. “I think he’s amazing, but he’s got a big company to run,” Trump said, hinting that some members of Musk’s team may continue their work in the administration.
As speculation continues regarding Trump’s future political moves, his statements underscore a persistent interest in remaining a key player in the U.S. political landscape.
