
Mogadishu-(LM) The Minister of Public Works of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Elmi Mahmoud, announced a significant policy shift aimed at bolstering the local engineering sector. Speaking at a review meeting regarding the Nagaad Project, he emphasized that future infrastructure projects will be awarded to local companies rather than foreign institutions.
“This initiative is designed to encourage Somali engineers and empower local firms,” Minister Mahmoud stated. He highlighted the positive impact of the Nagaad Project on the country’s infrastructure, noting that it has successfully implemented numerous valuable activities that contribute to national development.
The minister expressed pride in the achievements of the Nagaad Project, citing various successes during its implementation. By prioritizing local contractors, the government aims to foster economic growth, enhance skills among Somali engineers, and ensure sustainable development within the country.
