Somalia Humanitarian Forum Launched in Galkayo

Galkacyo (LM) The Somalia Humanitarian Forum (CHF-2025) was officially inaugurated today by Mohamud Macallin Abdulle, Chairman of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA). The forum aims to enhance collaboration in the relief sector, address climate change adaptation, and strengthen emergency response mechanisms.
In his opening address, Abdulle stated the critical humanitarian crisis facing Somalia, citing insufficient rainfall during the Deyr season, an uncertain Gu season, and the looming threat of La Niña. He stressed that these challenges have severely impacted millions of lives, exacerbated by displacement, insecurity, and inadequate funding for aid.
“This forum serves as a vital platform for stakeholders to unite in finding sustainable solutions and improving our collective response to the ongoing humanitarian challenges,” Abdulle remarked.
The event is set to host a diverse group of participants, including the Chairman of NIRA, federal and regional Ministers of Relief, representatives from donor agencies, humanitarian organizations, and other distinguished guests. The forum seeks to foster partnerships and develop effective strategies to alleviate the humanitarian situation in Somalia.
