Somalia Human Rights Summit Officially Opened

Mogadishu (LM) The country’s Second Deputy Prime Minister, Abdisalan Abdi Ali, officially inaugurated the National Human Rights Summit today, marking a significant step forward in the commitment to human rights protection and advocacy.
The ceremony, attended by notable officials including the Minister of Family and Human Rights Development, H.E. Mr. Mohamed El-Sisi, drew a crowd of advocates, policymakers, and community leaders dedicated to advancing human rights in the nation.
Before the Summit commenced, attendees were invited to inspect areas specially adorned with impactful images that reflect the ongoing efforts to protect and promote human rights. These visuals served as a poignant reminder of the importance of safeguarding the dignity and rights of all citizens.
In his opening remarks, Deputy Prime Minister Abdisalan Abdi Ali stated, “It is time for Somalia to take the lead in protecting human rights.” He emphasized the government’s dedication to fostering an environment where human rights are respected and upheld, saying, “Today, we gather not only to discuss challenges but to celebrate the progress we have made and to reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that every individual’s rights are protected.”
Minister El-Sisi also addressed the audience, highlighting the critical role of community involvement in promoting human rights awareness. He urged attendees to engage actively in discussions and initiatives that aim to create a more just society.
The Summit features a series of panels and workshops aimed at addressing various human rights issues, providing a platform for dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders.
