Somali Parliamentary Leaders Meet with Constitutional Review Committee to Propel Constitutional Finalization

Mogadishu (LM) The Speaker of the House of the People, H.E. Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur (Madoobe), and the Speaker of the Upper House, H.E. Abdi Xashi Abdullahi, held a significant meeting focused on the ongoing review and completion of the Somali Constitution. They were joined by key parliamentary figures, including the Second Deputy Speaker of the House of the People, H.E. Abdullahi Omar Abshirow, and the Second Deputy Speaker of the Upper House, Senator Abdullahi Hirsi Timacadde.

The meeting brought together the Monitoring and Review Committee of both Houses, along with the Independent Committee for the Review and Implementation of the Constitution. Attendees included the secretariat staff and the secretaries general from both Houses, who contributed to discussions on the constitutional review process.

During the meeting, the chairmen of the committees presented a comprehensive report detailing the progress of the constitutional review activities. They outlined plans for the presentation of the remaining chapters to Parliament.

In conclusion, the leaders agreed on the necessity to accelerate the activities surrounding the review and finalization of the Constitution, underscoring the importance of this process for the future governance and stability of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
