Former President of Somalia Sheik Sharif Expresses Condolences on the Death of Commander Nur Farey

Mogadishu, Somalia-(LM) Former President of Somalia H.E Sharif Sheikh Ahmed has extended his heartfelt condolences to the family, relatives, and the armed forces of Somalia following the tragic death of Lieutenant General Nur Mohamed Gaabow, also known as Nuur Farey, the Commander of the 14th October Brigade of the Somali National Army.

In his statement, President Ahmed described Commander Farey as a national hero who exemplified talent, loyalty, and military leadership. “He served his country and people tirelessly until his untimely death,” the President stated, emphasizing the significant loss felt across the nation.

The President also expressed his condolences to the families of other soldiers who lost their lives in the recent attack, calling it a “barbaric act.” He prayed for the acceptance of their martyrdom and for patience and strength for their loved ones and comrades.

Furthermore, President Ahmed urged the command of the national army and the leaders of the Federal Government to conduct an immediate and transparent investigation into the incident. “It is crucial that the perpetrators of this heinous act are brought to justice,” he asserted, highlighting the need for accountability in the ongoing struggle against terrorism in Somalia.

The assassination of Commander Farey has reignited discussions on the security challenges facing the nation, as the government remains committed to combating extremist groups and ensuring the safety of its citizens.
