Somali President Meets with European Union Delegation to Discuss Strategic Partnership

Mogadishu (LM) President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of the Federal Republic of Somalia met with the European Union Delegation to Somalia to discuss the ongoing strategic partnership between Somalia and the EU.

During the meeting, President Mohamud expressed gratitude to the European Union for its significant contributions to rebuilding government institutions and supporting the federal system. He acknowledged the EU’s steadfast support for the Somali people, especially during challenging times.

The President elaborated on the government’s plans for national reconciliation, emphasizing the importance of strengthening good governance and developing a democratic system based on direct elections. He also outlined upcoming arrangements for national consultations aimed at stabilizing the political landscape in Somalia.

In his remarks, President Mohamud reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to enhancing international cooperation, underscoring its importance for ensuring a prosperous future, unity, and progress for the Somali people. The meeting highlighted the collaborative efforts needed to navigate the current challenges and foster sustainable development in Somalia.
