Navigating Peace: Somali FM Shares Diplomatic Insights from Africa”

Mogadishu (LM) H.E. Ahmed Ma’alam Faqi Ahmed, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, inaugurated a lecture titled “Lessons from the Field: A Diplomatic Journey towards Peace in the African Century.” The event was held at the Institute of Diplomatic Studies, featuring esteemed speaker H.E. Ambassador Dr. Nouruddin Mohammed Hamid Sati, former Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to the United States.

Mr. Muhammad Mahmood Gouri, Director of the Institute of Diplomatic Studies, welcomed Ambassador Sati and attendees, emphasizing the Institute’s commitment to fostering knowledge exchange through engagement with seasoned diplomats and experts.

During his lecture, Ambassador Sati addressed major challenges facing Africa today, with a particular focus on crises in Sudan, South Sudan, and Somalia. He underscored the significance of dialogue, traditional federalism, and regional cooperation as essential strategies for achieving peace and stability. Drawing on his extensive diplomatic experience, he highlighted practical approaches to conflict resolution and effective governance.

The lecture attracted over 250 participants, including senior government officials, civil servants, diplomats, researchers, and students from the Institute. This impressive turnout reflects a growing interest in regional peacebuilding and diplomacy, particularly among the younger generation.

Attendees actively engaged in discussions, expressing gratitude for the insights shared by Ambassador Sati and recognizing the importance of his expertise in tackling the challenges facing the region during this pivotal moment in the African century.
