Mogadishu (LM) MP Abdi Ibrahim Warsame, commonly known as Qawdhan, was elected as the new Chairman of the Finance Committee of the House of the People. The election took place during a meeting of the Budget, Finance, Planning, and Accountability of Government Institutions Committee, chaired by the Second Deputy Speaker, Mr. Abdullahi Omar Abshirow.
The meeting was held at the committee offices at Villa Hargeisa, where committee members gathered to discuss key financial matters affecting the country. MP Warsame replaces the former chairman, MP Mohamed Farah Nuux, who was recently appointed as the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation.
In his remarks, Mr. Abdullahi Omar Abshirow urged MP Warsame to accelerate the committee’s work to ensure effective oversight of government finances and planning. The newly elected chairman expressed his commitment to enhancing the committee’s role in promoting transparency and accountability within government institutions.
The election of MP Warsame marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to strengthen the financial governance of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
