Secretary of State Marco Rubio Unveils Comprehensive Reorganization Plan for State Department

Washington (LM)U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced a sweeping plan on Tuesday aimed at reorganizing the U.S. State Department to align with President Donald Trump’s America First foreign policy. In his statement, Rubio highlighted the need for reform, citing “tremendous challenges across the globe” and a department that he characterized as “bloated, bureaucratic, and unable to perform its essential diplomatic mission.”

Rubio emphasized that over the past 15 years, the State Department’s footprint had grown significantly, leading to soaring costs without a corresponding increase in effective diplomacy. “Taxpayers have seen less effective and efficient diplomacy,” he stated, criticizing a system that he believes prioritizes political ideology over America’s national interests.

The announced reorganization plan aims to modernize the State Department for the 21st century by consolidating region-specific functions, eliminating redundant offices, and discontinuing non-statutory programs misaligned with U.S. interests. “These sweeping changes will empower our talented diplomats to put America and Americans first,” Rubio asserted in a post on social media platform X.
