Upper House Committee Holds First Meeting of the 6th Session

Mogadishu (LM) The Judiciary, Justice, Religious Affairs, Endowments, Human Rights, Women and Children Committee of the Upper House of the Federal Parliament convened its first meeting today as part of the 6th session of the Federal Parliament. The agenda focused on discussions regarding the Legal Aid Bill and strategies to expedite the committee’s activities and responsibilities.

The meeting was attended by several committee members and legal experts, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in advancing legislative initiatives. Senator Nacima Hassan Haji Mahmud (Gadhwayne), the Chairman of the Committee, presided over the session.

In her opening remarks, Senator Mahmud stated, “Our focus today is to ensure that the Legal Aid Bill is thoroughly reviewed and that we enhance our efforts in promoting justice and human rights. It is crucial that we work together to address the needs of our communities effectively.”

The committee aims to streamline its operations and ensure that the proposed legislation aligns with the broader objectives of justice and equity in the country.
